Kant distinguished the phenomenon and the unknowable “thing in itself”; this position was modified in phenomenalism (J. Berkeley, J.S. Mill, as well as E. Mach, R. Carnap, etc.): for the first time in a systematic form, it was questioned the knowability of the external world and everyday confidence in its existence were established. In the philosophy of F. Brentano there is a general designation of everything that can become an object of scientific research, special attention is paid to finding the specifics of the mental, for which Brentano introduces and justifies the distinction between “mental” and “physical” Phenomenon The term “phenomenon” receives the greatest fame and development thanks to the works E. Husserl. 1. Man is a natural phenomenon

Elements of intelligent behavior are exhibited by higher animals and some birds. But the full manifestation of intelligence in the biosphere is inherent only to man, since only in his social community was formed, and then with acceleration over time, developed collective memory, called V.I. Scientific thought is a collective apparatus for collecting, accumulating, generalizing and storing knowledge created by Homo sapiens at a certain stage of its development, independent of the individual. And only a person is able to use this apparatus to solve his practical problems. Scientific thought, combined with human labor activity, has become a great geological force capable of transforming the biosphere.
“Scientific thought, as a manifestation of living matter, essentially cannot be a reversible phenomenon - it can stop in its movement, but, once created and manifested in the evolution of the biosphere, it carries within itself the possibility of unlimited development over time,” wrote V. The advantage of man over other higher animals must be secured in the material carrier of the mind - in the brain. How does the human brain differ, for example, from the brain of its closest relatives – primates? Strange as it may seem, but relatively recently experts could not detect fundamental differences in the structure of the brain of humans and chimpanzees. It was possible to identify such differences only at a new level of understanding of the structure and functioning of the brain, achieved in the last 30-40 years. It has been found that the simplest structural unit of the brain is not a nerve cell (neuron), as previously thought, but a structural ensemble of such cells with complex but fixed branching relationships. One ensemble usually controls (or analyzes) one process or one function of the body.
The evolution of the brain, its complication, occurs not only and not so much due to the quantitative growth of nerve cells, although such growth does occur, but due to the growing organization and orderliness of both individual structural ensembles and centers that combine individual functions into complex behavioral reactions. Brain tumors never create isolated “youth” ensembles. Structural units develop in the form of vertical columns, including both cells of ancient parts of the brain located in the lower layers, and cells of younger formations located above these layers. A quantitative increase in ensembles occurs mainly through the restructuring of old sections and the use of released nerve cells, and qualitative changes are initiated by the complication of connections, an increase in their number and the breadth of cell connections of the entire structural ensemble.
The structural ensembles of the human and primate brains, responsible for such functions as vision, hearing, motor reactions of the limbs and body, and many others, practically do not differ from each other. Significant differences have been identified in the size and connections of the structural ensembles that control human speech and motor reactions of the arms, especially the hands, which determine a person’s ability to work. In humans, the frontal lobes are distinguished, which, according to established ideas, integrate various brain functions into purposeful behavioral reactions, and also participate in associative and generalizing thought processes. In humans, the relative area of the frontal lobes of the brain is a record for the animal world, reaching 25%.
Let us note one more characteristic circumstance. The structure of ensembles of nerve cells and their connections in the brain are programmed by the genetic apparatus. The development of speech and motor-labor structural ensembles of the human brain is inherited by children from their parents. But it is not speech or labor skills as such that are inherited, but only the potential for their subsequent acquisition. Genetic capabilities are realized only under the condition that from early childhood a particular child is raised and educated in a community of people, in constant communication with them. Kipling's tale about little Mowgli, raised by wolves and other noble animals of the jungle, and then, as a mature youth, again returning to the “human pack”, is just a beautiful fairy tale. Rare real cases of this kind show that a human child, by force of circumstances, torn from the human community and surviving in the jungle, returning many years later to people, will never be able to fully master speech or acquire sufficiently complex work skills necessary for conscious activity. Genetic potential is limited in time by strict age limits. If the deadlines are missed, the potential fades, and the person remains at the level of the same primate.
In the history of mankind there are many examples showing that not only an individual, but also entire communities of people are obliged to wage an ongoing struggle to master, preserve and increase what sets people apart from the animal world. The slightest weakening of efforts or, even worse, the conscious awakening of base principles in people to the detriment of reason with amazing speed leads to the loss of cultural gains, to the revival of savagery and aggressiveness even in conditions of technical development.

Many researchers working in different fields of science note: human degradation is underway - physical, mental, moral. The environmental problems of the planet have a negative impact on people's health. By destroying nature, man destroys himself.
In Russia, the process of physical degradation of a person is intensified by poverty, poor living conditions, demoralization of large masses of people, a complex of losers, and lack of life prospects.
Where do geniuses come from, and not even them, but simply smart, comprehensively developed people? The quality of education has fallen sharply and continues to decline. A working education system that produces positive results is now being hastily and thoughtlessly broken by imposing the Western education system, without even thinking about the fact that it may turn out to be ineffective in our society. The learning process, both in secondary and higher schools, has been simplified so much that anyone can get an education with a minimum of effort. But what quality is it? And what kind of specialists graduate from universities?
The Bologna system with its gradation, modular controls, and the abolition of exams is simply ineffective. Perhaps her idea is not bad at all and it is being applied successfully somewhere. But not in our country, where the majority are accustomed to living according to the principle “it will do,” where it is possible to pay for everything that there is no desire to deal with.
Frightening statistics: only 7% of parents read books to their children. In 1987, this percentage was 80. The difference is noticeable and it makes you think. People don’t read, stop thinking, and don’t even feel the need to do so. This will be replaced by the Internet with often low-quality information, television with bad films, in which mediocre actors play, with whom the same directors work, and all the plots seem to have been sucked out of thin air.
And all this despite the fact that there are opportunities to develop. You just need to see them. There are no forbidden books, no forbidden topics, nothing is forbidden at all. Only the majority do not even see the opportunities before their eyes. People choose the most boring life, and of all that is permitted, only the most disgusting. Not even life, but simply existence: work in order to eat, eat in order to live and live in order to work. From time to time, so-called rest also occurs - always with alcohol (and more); if you are in nature, it means that you must definitely leave behind tons of garbage, which will continue to decompose for centuries, because there is simply no one to clean it up.
Why? Because nothing else simply comes to mind, because the level of development is so low that such a life is enough for happiness. But the fact that it is primitive is completely unnoticeable. Simply no one pays attention to this, and if there is someone who thinks about it, he drives these thoughts away from himself, “after all, everyone lives like this.”
What can you see on the main street of the city in the evening? Lots of drunks. Drunk teenagers, middle-aged people swearing, pensioners collecting bottles. And the police, patrolling all this beauty with pathos.
In the morning - angry people of all ages who are late for somewhere and try to fit into crowded public transport, while pushing aside those who are physically weaker. And this is our society. We live in it. Where did all this come from? It seems to me that the root of the problem is a change in the moral values of each person, and therefore a change in the morality of society as a whole.
Morality is simply lost. A mother can abort a child who has just been born. A father can choose what is more important to him: money - or the lives of his children. Grown bastards will beat defenseless people, considering it normal. Every third person likes to drink - and this is also not considered something out of the ordinary. If a drunk father beats his child or wife, no one is surprised. Politicians steal money from the people. It’s scary to go out alone in the evening - the likelihood of being robbed, and maybe even killed, is too high. It’s simply scary to live in such a society.
But what happens to people? Perhaps even animals are more noble. As soon as a person is given the opportunity to do what he wants, he immediately begins to descend, to degrade in every sense. If you give one power over others, then he will almost completely abuse it in the name of his personal interests and for self-affirmation.
Or maybe this happens because everything is possible? That there is nothing unforgivable? After all, you can run over several people while driving while drunk, and then pay for it all, not be punished, and move on with your life in peace, just forgetting about it. What's scary is that people can live with this in peace. This is the level of morality.
Our “middle class” has finally overcome the old standards of honor and dignity. They don't hold him anymore. Personal conscience, of course, remains, but without socially controlled norms it is not so effective. Yes, a person repents in his soul, and society slides into the mud.
3. Features of the human brain
1. The brain of a genius and the cerebral index.
The largest cerebral index (the ratio of body weight to brain weight) is found in hummingbirds. It has approximately 8 times the relative brain size of humans. But we don’t even notice the hummingbirds playing chess. Statistics say that the weight of the brain of a genius (1700-1800 g) still exceeds the brain of an average person (about 1300 g), that is, it is necessary to state that size matters. But the explanation for this is simple - a heavier brain has several tens of billions more neurons than another person, which is about the same as arming yourself with a laptop instead of a regular calculator.
The brain consumes a lot of energy, up to about a quarter. But he consumes it only in intensive work mode. However, after two weeks of intense brain work, a person can die from nervous exhaustion, since the body simply does not have time to energetically support such brain work. Therefore, the brain usually uses all its resources to avoid working intensively. And therefore, laziness is an integral human property, which is supported by a special system of endorphins.
That is, throughout evolution, the brain, especially in primates and humans, tries to reduce its load. Based on this, “creation” in the full sense of the word is not energetically beneficial. All people save on their own brains and are pathologically lazy. It is more profitable to turn on a complex machine for a short time and immediately turn it off. This means that it is more profitable to have a large brain and rarely use it, rather than a small one and constantly use it.
3. A man's brain is closer to a monkey's brain than a woman's.
In terms of protein composition and DNA, humans have the smallest difference with monkeys. There is a species of small chimpanzee, Bonobo, that lives in West Africa, in the equatorial part. They have a difference in structural proteins with humans - less than 1%. Recently, interesting facts have come to light. It turns out that the difference between male chimpanzees and men is much smaller than the difference between an adult male and an adult female. That is, genetic sexual dimorphism is more pronounced in humans than the dimorphism between a man and a male Bonobos.
4. Intellectual stress harms the brain.
Blood flow increases, neurons use energy, and the amount of ATP decreases. The brain really doesn’t like this, it doesn’t want to prepare for the exam, it doesn’t want to remember anything. This is fine. But if the brain wants to work, this means that we have a person with some kind of pathology, because intellectual stress is needed only for solving biological problems. This is what the brain was created for. And therefore, additional energy costs, primarily the consumption of sugars and oxygen, deplete the brain. And since the brain, under some conditions, can consume up to 25% of the energy of the entire body, you can work yourself to the point of nervous exhaustion. You definitely need to rest. As they say, entry is a ruble, and exit is three. Brain recovery takes about three times longer than the time spent on intellectual work. That is, if you fought in an intellectual impulse for 4 hours, then you need to sit idle for 12-16 hours after that.
5. There is no intelligent plan in the evolution of the human brain.

To say that man was created as a result of divine creation is to admit publicly that the creator was insane. Helmholtz said almost a hundred years ago that “if God had ordered me to make eyes, I would have made them a hundred times better.” And this was said at a time when neither optics nor electronics really existed. But the ophthalmologist was clear that it was impossible to do this to the eyes. So I can’t imagine that such a disgrace could result from a reasonable plan.
. Biosocial nature of man
In the process of anthropogenesis (the evolutionary-historical process of human formation), the highest form of existence of matter – social – emerged on our planet. The appearance of man is the result of the development of life in one of its evolutionary branches - the animal kingdom. Biological species Homo sapiens is a unique life form that combines biological and social essences. This connection is due to a long process of biological evolution and historical development of mankind. Sociality does not pit people against the rest of nature. According to his biological organization, man certainly belongs to living nature, the animal kingdom. The life activity of the human body is based on fundamental biological mechanisms that constitute the biological heritage of man. That is why it is included in the system of nature, which took shape throughout most of the history of the planet’s development, regardless of the social factor, and which itself gave rise to this factor. Man is a unique and integral component of the biosphere. The peculiarity of the biological essence of man is that it manifests itself under the conditions of the action of the laws of a higher, social form of the movement of matter. The patterns and directions of the historical development of mankind flow from the social essence of people. Biological processes necessarily occur in the human body and they play a fundamental role in ensuring the most important aspects of vitality and development. However, in human populations these processes do not lead to the results common to the rest of the living world. Thus, natural selection, the driving factor in the evolution of living organisms, has lost its importance (for example, in speciation) in human development, giving way to social factors.
The process of individual human development is based on two types of information. The first type is biologically relevant information that was selected and preserved during the evolution of ancestral forms and recorded in the form of genetic information in DNA (a mechanism for encoding, storing, implementing and transmitting information from generation to generation, universal for all living organisms). Thanks to it, the individual development of a person develops a unique set of structural and functional characteristics that distinguish him from other living organisms. The second type of information is represented by the sum of knowledge and skills that are created, preserved and used by generations of people during the development of human society. The assimilation of this information by an individual occurs in the process of his upbringing, training and communication in society. This human feature is determined by the concept of “social heredity”, inherent exclusively in human society.
The idea that humans belong to the animal world has been repeatedly expressed by thinkers and scientists in different historical eras, starting with ancient authors. However, the merit of a strictly scientific, reasoned proof of the animal origin of man belongs to Charles Darwin. In his famous work “The Descent of Man and Sexual Selection” (1871), he collected and summarized a huge amount of factual material from the field of systematics, comparative anatomy and embryology. In this work, he, in particular, emphasized that modern apes are not the ancestors of humans, but have a common origin with them, common ancestors. Later, numerous and convincing facts were added to this in the field of comparative physiology, biochemistry, cytology, genetics, molecular biology, paleontology and other biological sciences.
It is impossible to trace the origin of man as a social being directly from the biological, since the connection between them is indirect - through the mental. The formation of human sociality occurs during the transformation of the animal psyche into human consciousness, based on social relations, conscious and labor activity. The prerequisites for the emergence of human sociality, his developed speech and thinking, developed in the course of biological evolution, which led to the formation of a complex of morpho-anatomical and psychophysiological features that determine his uniqueness in the world of living beings on our planet. Speaking about the unique properties of man, one should not think that there is a “bottomless abyss” between animals and man, that the appearance of man (as some scientists believe) occurred as a result of some kind of evolutionary “leap”.
The origin of man as a biosocial being was a natural and logical result of the development of one of the branches of the evolution of the animal kingdom.
5. The human brain and its hidden capabilities
For centuries, it was believed that the human brain functions as a single unit, which loses its abilities in the event of any violation of its structure. Later it turned out that, if necessary, some parts of the brain take over the functions of the damaged areas. But this did not cause any revolutionary changes in views on the functioning of our central nervous system. However, great surprise was the discovery that in some cases a person can live, even in the case of atrophy or removal of the pineal gland: it turns out that part of our brain is a kind of “brain within a brain.”
But the real shock came when it was experimentally proven that the severing of connections between the left and right hemispheres of the brain has virtually no effect on a person’s mental and functional abilities, and, on occasion, this method can even cure epilepsy. No one has yet been able to find an intelligible explanation for this phenomenon.
Neurophysiologists Roger Sperry and Michael Gazzaniga studied the response of people who had ever had the connection between the hemispheres of the brain artificially disrupted to treat epilepsy. These studies gave them the idea to separately study the reactions of each hemisphere to the perception of visual images. They took advantage of the fact that the nerve fibers that carry signals from the eyes to the brain are arranged in such a way that the signal from the right eye goes to the left hemisphere, and from the left eye to the right hemisphere of the brain.
The people with whom the experiment was conducted were shown images on a screen: first from the left side, then from the right. At some point, instead of a frame with an image, a picture appeared with the inscription: “Who are you?” The right half responded: “Peter Samson.” The left one, when the inscription was shown on the right side, confirmed this. The next question “sounded” like this: “Who would you like to be?” The right hemisphere formulated the answer: “racing driver.” And the left answered: ... “draftsman”!
The scientists were stunned. Further research showed that beyond any doubt, each hemisphere represents a separate personality. This personality has its own dreams, memories, knowledge and emotions. And it turns out that the holistic functioning of the human brain consists of two separate equal “worlds” - that is, the same way it possibly happens in the Universe...
Another mystery of the human brain is related to the possibility of non-rational cognition - the so-called intuition. “My intuition told me that I should have done this and that, but something was holding me back.”
What is intuition?
Intuitive knowledge has nothing to do with the laws of logic. Logical thinking is based on collecting information, analyzing facts, establishing a cause-and-effect relationship between them and formulating conclusions. Intuition suggests a ready-made answer, appearing as if “from nowhere.”
It has been established that people with developed intuition are able to quickly navigate the most difficult situations and instantly make error-free decisions. In some experiments, groups of subjects were asked to complete a variety of tasks - with numbers, words, pictures - each of which contained some kind of gap in information. The subjects had to “restore” this gap. The results showed that those who followed the “logical” path invariably failed. And only a few came to the right result using intuition!
Scientists associate intuitive thinking with the functioning of the right hemisphere of the brain. This should indicate that left-handed people (the right hemisphere of the brain “controls” the left side of the body, and vice versa) should have better developed intuition. And indeed! In numerous intuition tests, left-handers always perform better than the “right-handed” majority. Until recently, “left-handedness” was considered a defect that they tried to correct with the help of medicine, and children – young left-handers – were seriously “raised” in “right-handed” traditions: parents were worried that they were raising “defective” children. Meanwhile, the great Leonardo da Vinci was left-handed, and this did not prevent him from being a recognized master.
We, however, live in a “right-wing” civilization. All objects around us are adapted to the right hand. The system of education and upbringing is designed to develop in us from childhood the left half of the brain, that is, logic, rational thinking. “Only without speculation, please rely on the data” - this is a dry phrase, a kind of slogan of a “right-sided” civilization, which sounds like a refrain throughout life. And intuitive thinking is relegated to the margins of consciousness...
Why did this happen? After all, human nature contains both rational and spiritual principles. But, alas, centuries of work to expel the spiritual principle from the life of mankind led to the fact that rationalism prevailed in the public consciousness and became the only official method of knowledge.
However, the third millennium will obviously make the tasks facing humanity much more complex and will require the involvement of new forces to solve them. It is already clear that these problems cannot be solved with rationalism elevated to a cult. Fortunately, recently they have begun to recognize the fact that the further development of humanity is impossible without the harmonious development of all the creative capabilities inherent in man. Judge for yourself: after all, man is an amazingly symmetrical creature. Is it normal when only the right half actually participates in active creation?
By the way, some cultures of the ancient and middle ages, in particular the early Slavic, were “two-handed” - people could wield their right and left hands equally, and both hemispheres of the brain played an equally important role. Both intuition and reason - each in its own field, equally served people in understanding the infinitely complex world.
Let us remember how many times we have heard calls to study, discover, and realize the hidden capabilities of man. Where are they hiding, these opportunities? Yes, in the right half of the brain, which is responsible for the left side of the body! Here is the source of intuition, as well as clairvoyance, clairvoyance and all those phenomena that in our “right-sided” civilization are usually called “paranormal”.

If in right-handed people the leading right hand is most often combined with the leading right eye and leading right ear, then in left-handed people these combinations are much more varied. Even their brains are structured somewhat differently than those of the right-handed majority, and this relates, as it turned out, not only to the dominance of the right (and not the left) hemisphere, but also to the principles of functional organization in general.
In the laboratory of general and clinical electrophysiology of the human brain at the Institute of Higher Nervous Activity and Neurophysiology of the Russian Academy of Sciences under the guidance of Doctor of Biological Sciences L.A. Zhavoronkova studied the nature of interhemispheric asymmetry of the brain of right-handed and left-handed people. To do this, encephalograms were taken from the subjects in different states, recording the bioelectrical activity of different zones of the cerebral cortex.
It turned out, for example, that in a state of quiet wakefulness, the brain hemispheres of right-handers work more synchronously than those of left-handers, and when moving the leading hand, the brain of right-handers is activated locally in the left (leading) hemisphere, while in left-handers - in both. The encephalogram of right-handers and left-handers changed differently when falling asleep.
During another experiment, subjects first sat with their eyes closed, and when they opened them, a light signal lit up in front of them, on which they had to fix their gaze. In right-handers, the effect of this signal disrupted the synchrony in the functioning of the hemispheres, while in left-handers the picture changed slightly.
It seems that left-handers do not have such a clear distribution of roles between the parts of the cerebral cortex, and this is what affects its work during the transition from one functional state to another (for example, from wakefulness to sleep). Scientists believe that the cortex and subcortical structures in right-handed people largely mutually suppress each other, while in left-handed people, on the contrary, they are mutually activated. This entails both the disadvantages and advantages of “left-handedness.” For example, the cortex of left-handers is less capable of suppressing epileptic activity, and this apparently explains the fact that among them there is a much higher percentage of epileptics than among the human population in general.
On the other hand, the functional organization of the brain of left-handers can contribute to the development of creative abilities, and it is not surprising that among them there are many brilliant musicians, architects, and artists. As an example, we can recall Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Charlie Chaplin, as well as the famous Leskovsky Lefty.
And as a result of joint work with the staff of the Institute of Neurosurgery named after N.N. Burdenko RAMS - professors T.A. Dobrokhotova and N.N. Bragina - another advantage of the left-handed brain was established. His activity after a traumatic brain injury is restored more easily than that of right-handers. According to L.A. Zhavoronkova, left-handers are no worse or better than right-handers - they are just different. Considering the nature of interaction between man as a social being and nature, as the basis of all life, first of all I would like to highlight several levels or sublevels of interaction at which information interaction between man and nature occurs. This is primarily a micro-level or level of interaction at the cellular and subcellular level and a macro-level, and many researchers also add a global level or level of functioning in the mode of self-consciousness, self-determination of superconsciousness and collective awareness.
The level closest and most understandable to the average person is, first of all, the level at which human interaction with nature is carried out through interaction with animals as a biologist, linguist, and researcher. In many folklore and ethnic works of many peoples and nationalities, attention is drawn to the possibility of humans using the healing power of plants and the enormous animal power of animals for their own purposes. Man, his world, his social arrangement is a kind of one of the upper steps of evolution in the development of consciousness among objects of living nature. In addition, a very important problem of recent times and recent decades has become the problem of the coexistence of man and nature in proper climatic, environmental and sociocultural conditions. The phenomenon of coexistence and optimal interaction between man and nature will always be important, relevant and in demand among all of humanity as a whole due to the enormous importance of studying this phenomenon.

She doesn’t need diaries and organizers so as not to forget about important things and recall the events of past years. It would seem that a huntsman is one of the most peaceful professions. Forest, nature, birds... But Roy Cleveland Sullivan, who worked in the Shenandoah National Park in the US state of Virginia, only dreamed of a quiet life. According to statistics, the probability of a person being hit by lightning is 1:3000 (for the USA), and there is little chance of survival. “Lucky” Sullivan survived seven blows, for which he entered the Guinness Book of Records.
The first time lightning struck him was in the spring of 1942. It hit the wooden fire tower in which Sullivan was hiding from the thunderstorm, and the tower caught fire. Sullivan jumped out, but no such luck! The lightning “caught up” and hit the huntsman in the leg. Then, for 26 years, the elements left the huntsman alone. But when in July 1969 he was driving a truck along a mountain road, he was “fired at” in full. First, lightning struck a nearby tree, then an open car window. Thank you for the fact that he, left without the unconscious driver, stopped at the edge of the cliff. This time Roy lost his eyebrows, eyelashes and most of his hair.
The attacks became more frequent. Roy received his next blow in 1970, in his own yard, after which his arm was temporarily paralyzed. Two years later, the elements caught him at work in the park: his hair caught fire, and he barely put it out. There was no point in pretending that it was just an accident. Now, if a thunderstorm caught Sullivan on the road, he pulled off the road and waited out the threat. And he always took a container of water with him. This helped him out during his next encounters with lightning - in the summers of 1973, 1976 and 1977.
The title of “lightning rod man” left an imprint on Roy’s lifestyle: people avoided getting close to him for fear that lightning would strike them too. At the age of 71 (in 1983), Sullivan's life was cut short. No, not from another lightning strike, he shot himself. There were rumors that it was from unrequited love.
Mushrooms as an elixir of eternal youth
The story, which baffled scientists, began in the genre of a household detective story: in 1979, the wife of Yakov Tsiperovich, an electrician from Minsk, poisoned him with mushrooms out of jealousy. The state of clinical death lasted an hour (which, in principle, does not happen). He then fell into a coma for a week. Then the fun began.
“When I woke up, I couldn’t utter a word for six months,” Yakov recalled. “Then speech was restored, but the voice became completely different, as if it was not mine at all. In general, there were a lot of strange things. I didn’t feel well in my body, as if I was in zero gravity. All objects suddenly became lighter. The perception of people around me has changed. If someone nearby was in pain, this pain was transmitted to me. Finally, I could not lie down at all. As soon as I assumed a horizontal position, I was literally thrown out of bed.” What can we say about sleep? The strongest sleeping pills did not prevent him from finding himself nervously pacing around the room at night again. This instilled panic: the body cannot exist without rest! But gradually he came to terms with it and got used to it. Moreover, the insomnia that lasted 16 years did not affect him in any way - he felt and looked great.
Trying to unravel the mystery, Yakov visited the best specialists: he was at the 1st Moscow Medical Institute, the Brain Institute in Leningrad, visited the healer Juna, and then, in the 90s, having already moved with his family to Germany, he was examined in the sleep laboratory at the University of Halle . Everyone confirmed that he was healthy, but they found no explanation for the phenomenon.
He started doing yoga, learned to achieve a state of half-sleep for two or three hours, created a system of exercises that compensate for the loss of strength and, according to Tsiperovich, “block all aging processes in the body.” Whether this is due to exercise or Yakov’s body temperature, which since that memorable day in 1979 has not risen above 33.5 degrees, the fact remains: the current 63-year-old Yakov Tsiperovich looks little different from the 26-year-old Minsk electrician, whose wife was so jealous .
Barefoot on Mont Blanc
Wim Hof was born in 1959 in Sittard, the Netherlands. One day, when he was 17 years old, in winter he saw a lake covered with a crust of ice, and felt an irresistible desire to plunge into it. “I took off my clothes and threw myself into the water: I jumped out as if scalded. But it was the strongest feeling! I started swimming in ice water, about half an hour every day, longer, deeper.”
With age, the Dutchman's relationship with the cold only grew stronger. So, in 2000, for the first time, in front of an astonished public, he climbed into a glass flask with ice, and in 2007, he spent 72 minutes in a similar vessel placed in the center of New York, Manhattan. He conquered Mont Blanc barefoot (4810 m) and climbed Kilimanjaro (5895 m) in shorts. In the same favorite uniform, I ran a 42-kilometer marathon in the Arctic Circle at -20°C.
Having received sunburn while climbing Kilimanjaro, he also experimented with high temperatures: he took a 50-kilometer walk through the Sahara Desert without drinking a sip of liquid. And he made an unexpected conclusion - you can’t drink in the heat! But still, with the cold, Hof is on the shorter side and considers such relationships to be the key to health and longevity.
Scientists observing the Dutchman's experiments confirm that his body is not affected by low temperatures that could kill an ordinary person, and consider Hof a phenomenon. He himself believes that it’s a matter of regular training and under his leadership, in a year and a half, almost anyone can become like him.
In his free time from breaking records, the Ice Man, as journalists call him, leads adventure lovers on extreme hikes, raises and accustoms five children to the cold. After all, this, the Dutchman believes, is also profitable: you save on clothes and heating, and they pay well for the show on the ice.
Schoolgirl without fear and reproach
The youngest in this company of miracle people is seven-year-old Olivia Farnsworth from Huddersfield in West Yorkshire.
