Spiritual Culture Lyceum in the name of St. Seraphim of Sarov was founded in 1992. This educational institution accepts students from the 5th grade. Duration of study - 6 years (until the end of 11 classes).

The founder of the spiritual educational institution is the Orthodox Church and the All-Russian Education Fund. Education at the lyceum is paid, upon admission, they pass exams in the Russian language and mathematics, and a conversation with teachers is held.

The educational institution has its own temple, religious library, comfortable dining room, modern computer classes. The two-storey building, which houses the Lyceum of Spiritual Culture, always looks fresh and tidy. In the rules of the lyceum students, it is necessary to monitor the cleanliness and tidiness of the school territory, to take care of the green spaces.

This educational institution employs qualified teachers, many of whom are professors and candidates of science. During the holidays, students often make pilgrimages to places holy for the Orthodox Church, excursions to similar spiritual institutions.

Lyceum founders: Synodal Department of Religious Education and Catechization of Russian Orthodox Church, All-Russian Foundation for Education, Autonomous non-profit organization Russian Orthodox Institute of St. John the Theologian and director of the lyceum Kuznetsov Igor Anatolyevich (former senior researcher at the Research Institute of Schools of the Ministry of Education of the RSFSR).

Currently, the Lyceum has a state license with registration number 028489 series 77 No. 001494, and state accreditation with registration number 000931 series 77A01 No. 0000931.

Until 1999, the lyceum was located in the building of the former Constantinople metochion, next to the church of St. Sergius of Radonezh. The rector of the temple was Archpriest John Vavilov, who was also the confessor of the Lyceum. Subsequently, the confessors of the same lyceum were the clergy of the same church, Priest Sergiy Ermakov and Priest Pavel Spesivtsev.

The school day began with a prayer before the start of training in the church of St. Sergius, on the twelfth and great feasts, many students attended services in this church. In 1999, the lyceum received the building of the former kindergarten, located in Izmailovo at the address 3rd Parkovaya, 34, building 1. Interaction with the temple became difficult. Then it was decided to convert one of the premises of the new Lyceum building into a temple.

In 2003, with the blessing His Holiness Patriarch and Moscow and All Rus' Alexy II in the Lyceum a temple was consecrated in the name of St. Seraphim of Sarov, in which the Divine Liturgy, the akathist of St. Seraphim of Sarov, prayer services were served by Sergiy Ermakov and Priest Pavel Spesivtsev. The school day at the lyceum begins with the prayer of all the teachers and students in the church.

In 2014, with the blessing of Metropolitan Arseniy and Bishop Panteleimon, the Lyceum was transferred to the Eastern Vicariate, services in the temple were performed by clerics of the Nativity Deanery Priest Dmitry Dvornikov and Viktor Kazantsev. For spiritual nourishment, the Lyceum was attached to the Cathedral of Pokorov Holy Mother of God in Izmailovo (rector Archpriest Vladimir Bushuev)

Since the 2015/2016 academic year, the Lyceum has been attached to the Church of the Kazan-Peschanskaya Icon Mother of God in Izmailovo of the Christmas Deanery of the Eastern Vicariate (rector Archpriest John Yermilov). With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus', Priest Dmitry Yuryevich Dvornikov, cleric of the Church of the Kazan-Peschanskaya Icon of the Mother of God in Izmailovo, was appointed as the confessor of the Lyceum.

In the 2015/2016 academic year, the Divine Liturgy is regularly celebrated in the home church of the Lyceum, and the akathist of St. Seraphim of Sarov. Under the guidance of the confessor of the lyceum, the students of the lyceum are engaged in social service in the eastern deanery (they visit a boarding house for the elderly, etc.), they have the practice of serving as sexton, choir directors and choristers on the kliros, during divine services.

The lyceum has the right to carry out educational activities on educational programs: basic general education; secondary general education. The lyceum teaches children from grades 5 to 11. The contingent of students is different: children from complete families, children from single-parent families, children from socially unprotected families, children from large families.

Classes in the lyceum are conducted by doctors of sciences, candidates of sciences, experienced teachers. Basic subjects are taught according to the state educational standard.

In 2012, the Lyceum passed a confessional certification, according to the results of which, on May 4, 2012, it was entered into the Register of Educational Organizations of the Russian Orthodox Church and received the right to carry out educational activities under the programs of the Orthodox component of basic general education, secondary general education.

Church singing is taught by a graduate of the Moscow Regency Singing Seminary, chorister of the Church of the Kazan-Peschanskaya Icon of the Mother of God of the Nativity Deanery of the Eastern Vicariate Prosvirina L.A.

The administration and the teaching staff of the lyceum include graduates of PSTGU (head teacher, methodologist, teachers).

For 23 years of the Lyceum's activity, almost all graduates entered the best universities in Moscow. A number of graduates have devoted their lives to science, defending candidate and doctoral dissertations.

20 graduates graduated from the lyceum with honors and were awarded with gold and silver medals "For Special Academic Achievement".

Many lyceum graduates dedicated their lives to serving the Church, graduating from the theological academy, seminaries, the Orthodox St. Tikhon Humanitarian University, the Russian Orthodox Institute of St. John the Evangelist. There are 14 clergy among the graduates, 2 graduates teach at PSTGU, 1 graduate at the Nikolo-Ugresh Theological Seminary.

Lyceum students take an active part and become winners and prize-winners of municipal stages international competitions and Olympiads in general subjects, as well as competitions "Beauty God's peace”, “Holy patrons of the Russian land” and the All-Russian Olympiad in the defense industry complex “Holy Rus', keep the Orthodox faith!”. In the 2014/2015 academic year, a 9th grade student won the regional stage of the OIC Olympiad.

The Lyceum Theater "Pervotsvety" performs at city venues (the district library, city competitions of school and family theaters, boarding schools, a boarding house for the elderly, etc.) with visiting performances, take part in the White Flower charity event, etc.

Teachers and students of the lyceum are engaged in active social activities: for many years they have been providing charitable assistance to the Zolinskaya boarding school; interact with pensioners of the Izmailovsky boarding house for labor veterans No. 19, correspond and provide charitable assistance to prisoners. There is a shelter for stray cats in the lyceum.
