We can completely agree with the opinion of this “father of Russian democracy.” But for some reason the academician moves away from the national characterization of “Bolshevism” and “Bolshevik power.” If he, like S.N. Bulgakov, wrote honestly that “as a result of the criminal actions of the Jewish authorities, more than 60 million Russian people were killed, Russia was destroyed,” it would be the complete truth. The figure is correct, the words are correct, but the national essence of the “varieties of fascism” is hidden. Patriotic films “Peter!” (1937), “Alexander Nevsky” (1938), “Minin and Pozharsky” (1939), “Suvorov” (1940) and others began to appear on the country’s screens.

In May 1934, by decree of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee, former kulaks were restored to voting rights ahead of schedule. In February 1935, peasants were given the right to have their own individual subsidiary plots. They were allocated a plot of land; they could have a cow, two calves, a pig with piglets and up to ten sheep. This contributed to a significant increase in the living standards of the peasantry.
