Conclusion

Truly, our beloved Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) should give us names and point out the best and beloved names by Allah. But to our great shame and regret, today many Muslims have no idea what our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) acted after the birth of a child, and call their children Western names that have nothing to do with the Islamic heritage, moreover, without even knowing their meaning.

There are those who know, but often this sunnah, although its observance is a very important matter, which is associated not only with his further education and behavior, but it matters for his life and akhirat success.

Show gratitude (shukr) to Allah for His mercy, and His commandments and the sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and hold fast to Islam and know that this is the most beautiful outcome. May Allah Almighty accept all your good deeds and reward you in both worlds.

Commentary by Sheikh Saduq :

Allah has ninety-nine names, and whoever lists them will enter Paradise. To list them means to embrace them and understand their meaning, not to count them. And success belongs to Allah.

Allah

Allah is the One to be worshiped and not worthy of worship ( Ibadat) no one besides Him. And you say, “He was always God,” in the sense that worship belongs to Him. Therefore, when the polytheists lost their way and began to think that worship is obligatory for idols, they called them goddesses, that is, those to whom worship belongs. And it is said: the basis of the word “Allah” is “ alahu" The Arabs say: " aliha r-rajulu" or " ya'lahu ileihi”, that is: “the person fell into confusion (or was scared)” and “I’m scared for him.”

Sole (One), United (vahid, ahad)

The meaning of "One" ( ahad) is that He is unique in His essence, and He has no dimensions, parts or organs of the body, and with respect to Him no counting or multitude is possible. For many things are in themselves a sign ( verse) His uniqueness, through which He pointed to Himself. It is said: “Allah has always been the One ( wahid)". And the second meaning of this is that He is the only One, and there is no one like Him, and no one is a partner with Him in His unity ( Wahdaniya), because anyone who has a likeness is not really the only one. And they say: “So-and-so is the only one among people” in the sense that he has no equal in one capacity or another. And Allah is the only One, not in the sense of number, for He is great and holy! – is not counted as one among bodies equal to it. However, He is the only one, and there is no equal to Him.

And some who know said about the One and One: “He is the One, because He is the only one, and the First, and there is no second along with Him.” Then He created creatures in need of each other. The word "only" ( wahid) is the number in the count, before which there is nothing. However, Allah is before any numbers, and to the “Single”, no matter how you turn this word and try to divide it, nothing is added to it, and nothing is subtracted from it. One multiplied by one gives one, and nothing is added to it, and the expression "one" itself has not changed. So, there is nothing before Him. And if there is nothing before Him, then He is the One who produced all things; and if He is the One who produced all things, then He is the One who will destroy them; and if He is the One who will destroy them, then there is nothing after Him. If there is nothing before Him and after Him, then He is the only one from eternity. And therefore they say: “The One, the One.”

However, the word "single" ( ahad) has a feature not inherent in the word “only” ( wahid). If you say: “There is not one (not the only one) in the house wahid)", then this “one” that is not in the house can be a pet, a bird, an animal or a person. However, if you said: “There is not a single one in the house ( ahad)", then this applies only to a person - that the person is not in the house. And the word "one" cannot be used for multiplication, counting or division: it is not a number. "One" ( ahad) means "internally unique". The word “one” ( wahid) is applicable as a number when counting or dividing. You say: "one" ( wahid), “two”, “three” and so on. “One” is the basis of numbers; itself goes beyond the limits of number. And you say: “One times two” or “three” and so on, and this is multiplication, or you say: “One is half of two” or “a third of three,” and this is division. However, for the word “single” ( ahad) all these operations are prohibited, and you cannot say: “one, two, three...”, and you cannot say: “one multiplied by one”, or “one multiplied by one”, or “one is half of two” .

Samad– means “lord” ( Sayyid). In this sense we can say: “He has always been samad" A master to whom his people obey, without doing things without his order, is called " samad" The poet says:

“I picked up the sword and said to him:

Take it sharp, oh lord, samad

And " samad"There is a second meaning. Samad- the one to whom one strives and resorts ( Masmoud Ilayhi) in your requests. In this sense one cannot speak of Allah: “He has always been samad“, because here He described Himself - He is great and holy! - one of the qualities of action ( sifat fe'ali).

Another meaning " samad“—one who has no body and no emptiness.

In the chapter on Surah Tawhid in this book, other meanings of the word “ samad", and I won't repeat myself.

The First and the Last (Awwalu wa Akhir)

First and Last: This means that He is the First without beginning and the Last without end.

Hearer (sami‘)

The first meaning of this is: if there is something audible, then there must be someone who can hear it.

Second meaning: that He hears prayers ( dua), that is, answers them. And Allah - may His name be exalted! – is the Hearer in His essence.

Seer (basir)

One of its meanings is: if there is something visible, then there must be a seer. You can say about Allah: “He has always been Seeing ( Basir)”, but you cannot say about Him: “He was always the beholder ( mubsir)”, because the beholder needs what He is looking at, and its existence becomes obligatory. Allah is the Seer of His essence. And the fact that We describe Him as “Hearer, Seeer” is not equivalent to describing Him as “Knower”. But the meaning of this is that He is the Perceiver ( wise man). And such is the quality ( sifat) Alive, without flaws.

Strong, Irresistible (qadir, kahir)

The meaning of “Strong, Irresistible” is that all things are not able to resist Him and what He wanted to accomplish in them. And His power extends even to that which does not exist, and He is able to bring it into existence. Allah said about Himself, He is great and holy: “... Lord of Doomsday"(1:4), but the Day of Judgment has not yet come. And it is said: “He has always been Irresistible,” that is: all things are not capable of resisting Him and what He accomplishes in them. He was always in possession of them, even when they were not there, as it is said: “ Lord of Doomsday”, although there is no Judgment Day yet.

High, Highest (ali, aala)

High ( Ali) has the meaning “irresistible” ( kahir), and Allah is High, the Possessor of sublimity and greatness, which means the Possessor of power, predominance and possession (of things). The Arabs say: “The king was exalted by ascension ( ala uluvvan)". “High position”: this is what they say about anyone who has nobility and greatness. However, the meaning of exaltation, ascension and elevation - like descent - does not apply to Allah, Great and Holy!

The second meaning of this is that He is above all things and all similarities and what the ignorant attribute to Him or the lost think about Him. He is the High One, Exalted above what the unjust say, with great exaltation.

But "Highest" ( aala): its meaning is that He is High, Irresistible. In this sense He said to Musa (A): “ Don't be afraid, because you are the highest (you are higher)"(20: 68), that is: you are invincible, victorious. He also said to the believers, encouraging them to fight: “ Do not become weak and do not be sad while you are superior, if you are one of the believers!"(3:139), and said: " Pharaoh rose to earth"(28:4), that is: he defeated the rest and took possession of them. And the poet says in the same sense:

"When we rose above them and defeated them,

They left them to lie as food for eagles and snakes.”

And the second meaning of the “Highest”: that He is above all similarity and assimilation, that is, He is purified from this. As He said: “ He is greater than what His associates ascribe to Him!"(10:18).

Enduring (tanks)

Enduring ( tanks) - means: existing without any events happening to Him, and without disappearing. Permanence is the opposite of disappearance. And among His qualities ( sifat) "Eternal" ( we give) has the same meaning as “Everlasting” - that is, One who does not pass away or disappear.

Creator (badi‘)

Creator ( badi‘) means: He who creates new things ( mubdiu l-badai‘) and gives being to things without any previous example or model. From the same root comes the word " bid'ah"in the meaning of something new and first. And this is His word: “ Say: “I am not new among the Messengers.”"(46:9), that is: I am not the first messenger. AND " bida'atom"is called an innovation in religion.

Meaning of "Explicit" ( zahir) in that He reveals His signs ( verse) as evidence of His power, manifestation of His wisdom and explanation of His reasons. All creation is not capable of creating even the smallest and weakest of these signs, as He said, He is great and holy: “Verily, those whom you call besides Allah will never create even a fly, even if they gather together for this” (22 : 73). Therefore, there is no creation of His that does not bear witness to Him and His unity ( Wahdaniya) from all sides. Allah has renounced the description of His essence, yet He becomes Revealed through His signs and evidence of His power; and He is hidden in His essence.

The second meaning of this is that He is the Manifest, the Conquering, the Powerful over all that He wills. And this is His word, He is great and holy: “ And they turned out to be winners ( Zahirin) "(61:14).

Hidden (batin)

Hidden ( batin) has the meaning that He hid from comprehension by thoughts, and He is the Hidden One, Whom nothing comprehends. For He is before all thoughts, and after them, and preceded everything known, so that it does not comprehend Him. Thoughts became weak, but did not penetrate into His essence, and eyes became exhausted, but did not comprehend Him. He is the Hidden of all hidden things and the secret of all hidden things. He hid himself in His essence, but manifested and exalted Himself through His signs. He is Hidden without any veil and Manifest without any approach.

And the second meaning of this is that He penetrates the hidden things of any thing, for He is the Knower, Seeing what they hide from Him and what they reveal. So, the meaning of “Hidden” is that Allah is great and holy! - knows all the secrets, and not that He hid in something, or that something hides Him in itself.

Alive (hi)

Knower (alim)

Knowing in the sense that He is Knowing in Himself. He knows all secrets and discerns everything hidden; nothing will be hidden from Him, and not even the weight of a speck of dust will be hidden from Him. He knew all things before they were created and He knows them after creation - secret and obvious, hidden and obvious. And the fact that His knowledge of things is contrary to the knowledge of creatures is proof that He is great and holy! – opposite ( bihilaf) creations in all their senses. Allah is great and holy! – is Knowing by His essence. “Knowing” also means one whose actions are perfect and skillful. And they do not say about Allah: “He knows things according to His knowledge,” lest something eternal be established along with Him. But they say about Him: “He is essentially Knower,” and they say the same about all qualities ( sifat) His essence.

Gentle meaning: He is Gentle towards those who disobey Him and is in no hurry to punish them.

Guardian (hafiz)

Guardian - One who preserves. This word is used to mean that He preserves all things and removes evil from them. It is not described by "storage" in the sense of "knowledge". Just as we are only in a figurative sense described through the storage of the Koran or knowledge: in the sense that if we have studied it, we preserve it.

Truth (hakk)

He is the Truth ( hack) in the sense that He is always true ( muhikk). The second meaning of this is that worshiping Allah is truth, and worshiping anything other than Allah is false. And this is His word, He is great and holy: “ Allah is the Truth, and what they worship besides Him is a lie"(22: 62). That is: they (idols) are a lie, and they will perish, and have no reward or punishment for anyone.

In the war, Hunain alone said: “It is better for me that my master ( rabb) became a Quraish than a man from the tribe of Hawazin."

However, they do not say about what was created: “ ar-rabb"with the definite article, because the definite article indicates generality, universality. About creations they only say: “ rabb something" (master of something), without a definite article.

Gracious ( Rakhman) means: “embracing His servants with mercy.” He surrounds them with food and benefits from Himself. And it is said: this is a name from the names of Allah in His Books, by which no one is called besides Him. They say about a person: “merciful” ( Rahimu l-qalb), but they don’t say about him: “merciful” ( Rakhman). For the Merciful is capable of eliminating disasters, and the merciful ( rahim) from His creation is not capable of this. And Allah is great and holy! - is merciful ( Rakhman) in relation to all worlds, and the Merciful ( rahim) only in relation to believers ( muminun).

Merciful (rahim)

This word is used to mean that He is the Merciful ( rahim) in relation to believers ( muminun). He embraces them with His Mercy ( Rakhmat) upon completion of their affairs. As He said, He is great and holy: “ He is merciful to believers"(33: 43). "Merciful" ( Rakhman) and "Merciful" ( rahim) are two names derived from the word " Rakhmat"(mercy). As Allah, great and holy, said to His Messenger (DBAR): “ We sent you only as a favor ( Rakhmat) for worlds"(21: 107), that is: good for them. And the Quran is said to be “true guidance and mercy” ( Khuda va Rakhmat). However, mercy does not mean “kindness” and “softness” ( rikka), for this is not characteristic of the Lord.

He says He is great and holy: “ For them is the home of the world ( salam) from their Lord"(6: 127). And the world is He, Allah, He is great and holy, and His dwelling is Paradise. One can call Paradise “peace” because everyone who enters it is at peace from everything that befalls the inhabitants of the earth, such as illness, death, old age, and so on. He is the abode of peace (security) from extinction and illness. And His word, He is great and holy: “ “Peace be with you” from the rulers of the right hand"(56:91), that is: your well-being comes from them. Allah is above being like His actions. His actions are flesh, blood, bones, hair, nerves, arteries, organs, lights, darkness, earth, sky, stones, trees and everything else from the types of creation; and all this is His actions and His creations, great and holy He is! And all this is an indication of His unity ( Wahdaniya), witnesses of His uniqueness and the fact that He is opposite ( bihilaf) His creation, and that which has no likeness to Him.

Some sages said this in describing the narcissus flower:

"Eyes in their e kah in the thickets

They grow, and their Lord is wonderful with O built

For all this is transitory, created, weak, weak on all sides, and all this is an indication of the One who created it: Mighty, Strong, Pure from the meanings of all of the above. "Holding" ( kabz) also has the meaning of “grasping something with the hand”, but this is not inherent in Allah, great and holy is He. The third meaning is that He is great because everything else before Him is insignificant and humble. He is Great in power and Great in dignity. The fourth meaning is that He is Glorious. But "Blessed One" ( tabarak)! This word comes from "blessing, grace" ( barakat). And He is great and holy! - the essence of the Possessor of blessing and grace. He performs grace, creates it and imparts it to His creatures. Blessed is He above and beyond having a son, a wife or a partner! And the words of Allah, He is great and holy: “ Blessed is He Who sent down Discernment to His servant, so that he might become a herald to the worlds"(25:1) they say that Allah, Who is eternal, and Whose blessings do not fail, and Whose remembrance is a blessing for slaves, He is the One Who " sent down Discernment to His servant, so that he might become a herald for the worlds" Discrimination is the Quran. It is called Discrimination because through it Allah is great and holy! - made the distinction between truth and falsehood. The same slave to whom he was revealed is Muhammad (DBAR), and He called him a slave, so that people would not take him as their god and begin to worship him. This contains the rejection of those who speak excessively about him (Muhammad, peace be upon him). Allah explained that He sent down this Discrimination to him so that he could become a messenger for the worlds and convey to them the threat of disobedience to Allah and the painfulness of His retribution. "Worlds" ( ‘alamun) are people.

“He to whom belongs the kingdom of heaven and earth, and He did not take a son for Himself,” as Christians say when they attribute a son to Him, erecting a lie against Him and going beyond the bounds of monotheism. “And He has no partner in His kingdom. He created every thing and measured it according to measure” - that is, He created every thing as He knew. He created nothing out of fun, carelessness or recklessness. But He created everything out of His knowledge that it was right and that it would benefit His servants in the cause of their religion, and that it was fair to the creatures. For if He had not created it as it was described, according to His knowledge, then there would have been contradictions and injustice in the creations, and they would have gone beyond the limits of wisdom, harmony and guidance into chaos and disorder - as is the case with those slaves who go beyond the boundaries in their actions and do things that they do not know the extent of. This does not mean that Allah created a certain measure by which he knows what needs to be created next. For this happens only in the case of someone who himself does not know the extent of what he does. But Allah is great and holy! – has always been the Knower of all things. By the words “he proportioned it with measure” it is meant that He created every thing according to His knowledge and the measure that is in this knowledge, so that His servants would know the extent of His works, and their time, and their place. And this measure from Allah is the Book and the message that He gave to the angels so that they would know it. And the word of Allah is not known except by the magnitude of what He Himself has revealed, so that they do not go beyond truth into falsehood, and from rationality into error, and from explanation into deception.

" Fatir" means "Creative" in the meaning of "Revealing". Allah says: " This is the natural quality fitra), with which Allah created ( fatara) of people"(30:30), that is, literally - “this is the quality on which Allah opened people.” It is also mentioned " mubdi” (“Beginner”, “Creator”) as the name of Allah.

This name is often found in the Torah, in the Old Testament. For example: “In the year of the death of King Uzziah, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of His robe filled the whole temple. The Seraphim stood around Him; each of them had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And they called to each other and said: Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts! the whole earth is full of His glory" (Book of the Prophet Isaiah, 6: 1-3).

Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said:

“Allah has ninety-nine names, one less than a hundred. Whoever learns them will enter Paradise.” Hadith from Abu Hurayrah, St. hadiths of al-Bukhari and Muslim.

The Almighty Creator says in the Koran:

Allah (God) has beautiful names, and you can address Him using them (address Him using them). Leave (leave, pass by) those who [deliberately] do something wrong (sinful) regarding His names [saying, for example, that many names indicate many gods]. [Do not doubt or worry] they [these spiritually poor and unreasonable people] will be fully rewarded for what they did [against the holiness of the Creator]. Holy Quran, 7:180

Every Muslim believer must know the 99 names of Allah. The names of the Almighty are usually arranged according to the order of their mention in the Holy Quran or according to the Arabic alphabet. The Quran prescribes the use of the names of Allah in prayers, dua and remembrance of Allah (dhikr). In lists, the names of Allah are usually given with the Arabic definite article “al-”. But if any name of Allah is mentioned in a prayer not as part of a phrase, but by itself, then instead of “al-” it is pronounced “ya-” (for example, “Ya Jalil” - “Oh, Majestic!”).
