When it comes to strange, at first glance, inexplicable things, ghostly anomalies that have no scientific or other sound explanation, we attribute mysterious and even magical qualities to these things. 10th place. Poltergeist made of coal
January 1921
Purchasing coal for his hearth in winter, Mr. Frost from Hornsey (London) had no idea how dangerous this purchase was and how much trouble coal could bring at first glance. After the first portion of solid fuel was sent to the fireplace, it immediately became obvious that it was somehow "wrong". The red-hot coal pebbles exploded in the furnace, destroyed the protective grill and rolled out onto the floor, after which they disappeared from view and appeared only in the form of bright sparks in another room. This did not end the matter. The Frost family began to notice strange things in their house, knives and forks floated through the air, as if they were in open space. The Reverend Al Gardiner and Dr. Herbert Lemerle witnessed an unusual and frightening phenomenon.
There were several versions regarding the devilry taking place in the Frost house. Skeptics put all the blame on the sons, who allegedly decided to play a prank on their parents. Others were sure that these were the tricks of miners who mixed dynamite with coal (later this version was tested and refuted). Still others believed that the raging spirit of the dead miners, resting in a corner and disturbed by the Frosts, was to blame.
The latest news that has been preserved about the Frosts is disappointing. On April 1 of the same year, five-year-old Muriel Frost died, allegedly from fright when she saw a poltergeist. Her brother Gordon was so shocked by the death of his sister that he was hospitalized with a nervous breakdown in the hospital. The further fate of the family is shrouded in mystery ...
9th place. rain of seeds
February 1979
The coal incident is not the only curiosity in England. For example, in 1979 it rained seeds in Southampton. Seeds of watercress, mustard, corn, peas and beans rained down from the sky, covered in an incomprehensible jelly-like shell. Amazed by what he saw, Roland Moody, who was in a home mini-conservatory with a glass roof, ran outside to get a better look at what was happening. There he met his neighbor, Mrs. Stockley, who said that this was not the first time that this had happened the previous year. One of the episodes of the series "The Mysterious World" by Arthur C. Clarke, aired in 1980, is dedicated to this incident. Until now, an adequate opinion regarding the strange rain does not exist.
8th place. The mysterious death of Netta Fornario
November 1929
The main character of the following strange story is Nora Emily Edita "Netta" Fornario, a writer who considered herself a healer, a resident of London. In August or September 1929, she left London for Iona, an island off the west coast of Scotland, where she died under mysterious circumstances. Among the versions of her death are psychic murder, heart failure, the action of hostile spirits.
Arriving on Iona, Netta set about exploring the island. During the day she traveled, and at night she searched for traces of the spirits of the island, with whom she tried in every possible way to contact. Her search dragged on for several weeks, after which, on November 17, her behavior changed dramatically. Netta hastily packed up her things and intended to head back to London. She told her friend, Mrs. McRae, that she was telepathically wounded after receiving messages from other worlds. It happened at night, so Mrs. McRae, apparently looking at the chic silver jewelry of the healer and fearing for her health, persuaded her to go on the road in the morning.
The next day, Netta went missing. Her body was later found on a "fairy mound" near Loch Staonaig. The corpse lay on a cross made of turf, completely naked under a black cloak, covered with scratches and abrasions. There was a knife nearby. The legs were beaten to the blood, as a result of jogging over rough terrain. Was Netta killed by a maniac, died of hypothermia, or by an absurd accident, is unknown. Discussions on this issue have not yet ended.
7th place. fire poltergeist
April 1941
After finishing breakfast, farmer William Hackler, a resident of Indiana (USA), went outside to get some fresh air. After leaving the house, he felt that his clothes smelled of smoke. Not paying attention to it special attention, he went to the barn. A few minutes later he returned back to the house, where we found a fire in the bedroom (the house was without electricity) - the walls were burning. The local fire brigade quickly arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire. But that was only the beginning of a hard day for the Hacklers...
Immediately after the fire engine left, a mattress caught fire in the guest room. The fire was located directly inside the mattress. Fires broke out in various places (including under the cover of the book) and rooms throughout the day. By evening, the number of extinguished fires reached 28. Having played enough, the fiery poltergeist no longer disturbed Mr. Hackler and his family. The same, in turn, demolished the old wooden house and built a new one in its place, from non-combustible lumber.
6th place. Third Eye
November 1949
Students of one of the universities of South Carolina in the city of Columbia (USA) returned late at night from the theater on Longstreet. At one point, they froze in place, confronted by a strange man in a silver suit, who then moved the cover of a nearby manhole and disappeared into the sewers. From that moment on, the strange man was nicknamed "the sewer man". A little later, this "character" again made it known about its existence, but in a more terrible case. In April 1950, in one of the lanes, a policeman noticed a man near a pile of mutilated chicken carcasses. It happened in the dark, the policeman sent a flashlight in the direction of an incomprehensible object, and was stunned when he saw a man with three eyes. The third eye showed off right in the center of the forehead. While the policeman came to his senses and called for reinforcements on the radio, the mysterious creature disappeared from view.
The third meeting with the "sewer man" took place in the 60s in the tunnels under one of the universities. After the tunnels were carefully examined, but no clear evidence of the existence of a three-eyed man was found. Who or what is he? Human? Ghost? Alien? No one knows, but random meetings continued until the early 90s.

For several months, women from Bridgeport (Connecticut, USA) were intimidated by a "phantom stiletto" that strikes the chest and buttocks and then hides in an unknown direction. The victims of an unknown, but very real criminal, were 26 persons, whose bodies felt all the pain and anguish from powerful blows of sharp weapons.
The attacker did not adhere to a specific type of victim, women were chosen spontaneously and randomly. While the victim screamed in pain and came to his senses, the perpetrator quickly ran away, not allowing himself to be identified. Police investigations led nowhere, the identity of the "stylet tormentor" was never identified. In the summer of 1928, the attacks changed dramatically and were never repeated. Who knows, maybe the maniac got old and artosis began to torment him ...
4th place. electric girl
January 1846
Do you think "X" people are fiction? Wrong, some of the characters are quite real. At least one. A fourteen-year-old resident of La Perriere in Normandy began to frighten her comrades with unusual abilities: approaching her, people received electric shocks, chairs moved away when she tried to sit down, some objects soared into the air as if they were light and weightless floats. Later, Angelina received the nickname "electric girl".
Not only those around, but also the girl herself suffered from the unusual abilities of the body. She often suffered from convulsions. In addition, by attracting various objects to herself, Angelina received painful injuries. Parents considered their daughter possessed by the devil and took her to church, but the priest convinced the unfortunate that the reason for their child's abnormality lies not in spirituality, but in physical features.

Luckily, her husband and teenage daughter were at home, ripping off her flaming dress before it burned the unfortunate woman.
The adventures of Mrs. Williamson did not end there. On the same day, the pants in her closet burned to the ground. The trials by fire continued the next day, when, in the presence of witnesses, for unknown reasons, a bed and curtains in another room caught fire. Spontaneous combustion continued for three days, after which the Williamsons surrendered to an unknown element and left the house. The housing was examined by firefighters and police, no reasons for what was happening were identified. On the fifth day, the fires stopped by themselves and no longer disturbed the owners of the house. Thankfully, no one was hurt by the fire.

We note right away that we are not talking about blind people who have learned to read special books by moving their fingers along the bulges on paper, but about a completely ordinary girl, sighted and healthy. The originality of Margaret Foos was that she could read ordinary books blindfolded. Her father called this phenomenon psychic vision through the skin. He himself taught his daughter this incredible skill and hurried to prove the uniqueness of the method to scientists.
In 1960, Mr. Foos arrived with his daughter in Washington DC to participate in scientific research. For the duration of the experiment, psychiatrists put on Margaret's eyes "fool protection" - a tight bandage. For the purity of the experience, the father was taken to the next room. Blindfolded, using only her fingers, the girl was able to read the pages of the Bible, kindly provided by scientists. For two years, a mysterious "ghost sniper" terrorized the residents of Camden, New Jersey. The first incident occurred in November 1927, when Albert Woodruff's car was shot at with a gun. Mystical stories from real life is a very early form of storytelling that originated in time immemorial. These fictional mystical stories, supposedly from real life, make the audience fear own reflection. Yes, and the very essence of the story is ridiculous and boils down to the old adage "curiosity killed the cat." There is something terrible in the very idea of something coming out of a mirror or a television screen, as if it were some kind of a parallel world, or perhaps a world opposite to ours, used in films such as Poltergeist. The idea of an opposite, parallel universe gives us the closest idea of hell. Bloody Mary gives rise to the idea that the evil spirits of the world are captured by glass, which also captures our own images and creates mystical fear. The fear that not only they may be summoned into our world, but that perhaps after death we ourselves will be trapped behind glass.

“A man and a woman went to Las Vegas for their honeymoon and checked into a hotel room. When they got to the room, they both noticed a bad smell. Husband called the front desk and asked to speak to the manager. He explained that the room smelled very bad and they needed another room. The manager apologized and said they were all booked due to the conference. He offered to send them to a restaurant of their choice as compensation and he's going to send a maid to their room to clean and try to get rid of the smell.
After a good dinner, the couple returned to their room. When they entered, they both still smelled the same smell. Again the husband called the front desk and told the manager that the room still smelled really bad. The manager told the man that they would try to find a room at another hotel. He called all the nearest hotels, but there were no available rooms. The manager told the couple that they couldn't find a room for them anywhere, but they would try to clean the room again. The couple decided to go sightseeing, have fun and so they said they would give two hours to clean up and then come back.
When the couple left the manager and maid went to the room to try to find what smelled like that in the room. They searched the entire room and found nothing, so the maids changed the sheets, towels, removed the curtains and hung new ones, scrubbed the carpet and ripped out the whole room again using the strongest cleaning products they had. The couple returned two hours later to find that the room still had a bad smell. The husband was so angry that he decided to find the source of this smell himself. So he started to search the entire room himself. After removing the top mattress from the bed, he discovered... the dead body of a woman."
This story can really be considered one of the most terrible mystical stories from real life, because in that very REAL life it has REAL documentary evidence. Although there is no data that accurately confirms this particular case (none was registered in Vegas). But, there were many reports of similar events in newspapers all over America.
For example: in 1999 Burgen Record reports an incident with two German tourists who complained about a terrible rancid smell in their room. Despite complaints, the couple ended up spending the night sleeping over the decomposing corpse of 64-year-old Saul Hernandez, who was found in the same hiding place as the body in The Mystery of the Body in Bed. The most recent life story about the hidden body in bed was published in March 2010 in Memphis. ABC Eyewitness News reports:
“On March 15, investigators were called to room 222 at the Budget Inn, where Sonya Milbrook's body was found under a bed. Police say she was found in a metal frame that was sitting right on the floor after someone reported a strange smell. The body lay in a bed frame, with a spring mattress on top. Room 222 has been rented out 5 times and cleaned by hotel staff since the day Sonya Millbrook was reported missing, according to investigators. Homicide investigators say Milbrook was murdered."
This terrible truth behind the usual mystical life story is so real that it turns it into one of the most creepy and unpleasant urban legends in America.
Clown statue. ... maybe a mystical story from real life, or maybe not ...
“I have a friend who was a babysitter when she was a teenager. Worked as a babysitter for a short time. Her clients were quite wealthy and lived in a huge house on the outskirts of the city. I remember about clients that the wife was a doctor, and the husband was a co-owner in some law firm, so we are talking about a decent family income.
Their house was huge, luxuriously furnished and stuffed with family heirlooms.
One night, they go to a dinner party and leave this girl to look after the children. The owner is shaking for his jewelry and doesn't want her wandering around the house where she might damage some ancient piece of armor or something, so he says she should stay in the living room. A kitchen and a huge screen TV are attached to the living room, so there will be no problems with entertainment. So they leave, and their children, being obedient, soon go to bed. The babysitter settles into her designated room and starts watching TV while preparing her own snacks. Soon she begins to feel uncomfortable. In the corner of the room stands an ugly, bulky statue of a clown. It looks like some grotesque antique from the 20's or so, and it's sort of dirty, covered in what looks like oil. A really mystical story begins - it seems to the girl that the statue is watching her.
It is said that we have the ability to feel that you are being watched, but often this sensation plays a trick on you. The girl tried to ignore It, but she couldn't help feeling like the clown's eyes were staring at her. She eventually takes her phone and locks herself in the toilet in the hallway outside. In her head she told herself she was crazy, thinking that the statue might hear her talk, that it was a ridiculous thought, but she left anyway. She calls the mistress of the house:
"Hello. This is Sarah. Look, I'm really sorry to disturb you, but I have a strange mystical story here... you have a statue of a clown in your living room, I'm really uncomfortable.... she's staring at me. Maybe you can move to another room or just throw a blanket over her?
After a long pause, the hostess replied:
“Okay Sarah, I get it. Calmly. Wake up the children, take them out of the room, put them in the car and knock on the nearest house. When you're there, call the police. I think it's safe to say that when you hear "call the police" you're not going to ask too many questions and waste time now."
She grabbed the children and ran away. As it turned out later, there was no statue of a clown in the house.
It turns out that children have complained before about the clown watching them sleep in their room. The father attributed it to stupid mystical stories and basically ignored their stories until the nanny saw him too. As it turned out, the local psychiatric ward had recently closed in the area, and not all of the former patients were cared for. The story goes that the police tried to hide their concern, though not very well, after hearing the mention of the clown costume before heading to the house. After a thorough search of the building, they were unable to find the clown. It turns out that before discharge the patient was treated for vivid and dangerous fantasies, but was unable to complete the course before the ward closed. They didn't catch him. "
Fear of clowns, or Coulrophobia, is not related to real life mystical stories and is a relatively common fear. It is related to the famous Stephen King novel in which seven children are terrorized by an entity that mostly appears in the form of "Pennywise the Dancing Clown". The twisted smiles and grimaces of the clowns became much more of a twisted and insane evil. IN last years, the most famous of the clown forms is Batman's archimesis, the psychopathic Joker. Perhaps it is the mask and façade of innocence that the makeup represents that makes the clown so scary. There is also an association with pedophilia or sexual abuse. This mystical story is terrible mainly for nannies and young mothers. She plays on the fear of intruders, from which they must protect the children and which poses a potential threat to the nanny herself. There are different versions of the story. In any case, this is a mystical story from real life that has been told in different versions of the nanny for years and deserves a place in our hit parade.
Coulrophobia
The modern "evil clown" archetype developed in the 1980s, largely popularized by Stephen King's novel It, and possibly also by John Wayne Gacy, a real-life serial killer dubbed Killer Clown in 1978. Other pop culture examples include the 1988 horror comedy Killer Clowns from Outer Space. The Joker character of the Batman franchise emerged in 1940 and has grown into one of the most recognizable and iconic fictional characters in pop culture, topping Wizard magazine's 2006 list of the 100 Greatest Villains of All Time. Krusty the Clown (introduced in 1989) is a parody of Bozo the Clown on The Simpsons. In an episode of Lisa's First Word (1992), Bart's childhood fear of clowns manifests itself in the form of Bart's injury from a hacky Krusty the Clown bed, when he continuously utters the phrase "I can't sleep, the clown will eat me." This phrase inspired Alice Cooper's song from the album Dragontown (2001) and became a meme. Websites dedicated to evil clowns and fear of clowns appeared in the late 1990s.
Killer in the back seat. The story is not mystical, but from real life. And that's for sure. ;)
“A woman leaves work late, realizing that she has nothing to eat in the morning. She stops at the garage on her way home to pick up some supplies. The woman's company demands overtime, and by the time she leaves for home, the road is pretty deserted. Suddenly behind her high speed another car is added. She shines with a turn signal, gives on the gas and starts to go around in the oncoming lane as if she is going to overtake, but at the last moment she breaks back and continues to “snuggle” behind.
The driver of the rear car begins flashing its high beams, blinding her a little. In a panic, she starts to accelerate. In desperation, she reaches for her phone, but at the speed she's driving, she's afraid she won't be able to handle the car if she tries to make a call.
The driver behind her starts to become more and more aggressive, blink even more and drive right behind her. In the end, he even hit her several times from behind. Her phone jumped somewhere under the seat. She rushes home. Finally reaching her house, she rushes out of the car and runs to the front door, but another car pulls up behind her. As soon as she puts her key in the door, the driver of the other car screams.
"For God's sake, lock the car door!"
Without thinking twice, she does it. As soon as the lock clicks, she sees the face of a man materialize at the rear seat window, staring at her and tapping lightly on the window.
This story easily deserves its place as one of the scariest mystical stories. In real life, she has made countless people check their rear seats every time they drive at night (including me). The interesting moral of this story is that it's not always clear where the source of the fear is, which is actually the danger.
There is another common version of such mystical stories from real life history: a strange and even creepy-looking gas station attendant is trying to pull the driver out of the car and thereby save him from the killer lurking in the back seat. This story is meant to make people re-evaluate their prejudices, as the man who causes so much fear in real life is trying to save the driver in a dangerous situation.
The bottom line is hidden fear. You feel safe in your car and danger always lies outside. As long as you are locked up, you are protected from any threats. This turns this general concept on its head, for the victim is locked in danger.

“There was a beautiful young girl. She lived in a small town south of Farmersburg. Her parents had to travel to the city for a while, so they left their daughter at home alone under the protection of her dog, which was a very large collie. The parents told the girl to lock all windows and doors. And at about 8 pm, the parents went to the city. Doing as she was told, the girl closed and locked all the windows and every door. But there was one window in the basement that didn't close completely."
“Trying her best, she finally closed the window, but it did not latch. So she went out the window and went upstairs. To make sure no one could get in, she closed the bolt on the basement door. "
“Then she sat down, had dinner and decided to go to bed. Around 12:00, she cuddled up to the dog and fell asleep.”
“At some point, she suddenly woke up. She turned and looked at her watch...it was 2:30. She snuggled up again, wondering what had woken her up...when she heard the noise. Dripping sound. She thought that the faucet in the kitchen was leaking and water was dripping into the sink. So thinking it wasn't that scary, she decided to go back to sleep."
“But for some reason she was nervous, so she reached her hand to the edge of the bed and let the dog lick her hand to make sure that he was there and would protect her. She woke again at 3:45 to the sound of dripping water. But she went back to sleep anyway. She stretched again and let the dog lick her arm. Then she fell asleep again."
"At 6:52 a.m., the girl decided she'd had enough... she got up just in time to see her parents pull up to the house. 'Good,' she thought. 'Now someone can fix that faucet...'." She went to the bathroom, and there was her collie dog, skinned and hung on a hook. The noise she heard was her blood dripping into a puddle on the floor. The girl screamed and ran to her bedroom to grab something heavy in case anyone else was in the house.....and there on the floor next to her bed she saw a small note written in blood: "I DO NOT DOG, BUT I CAN LICK, MY CHARM! »
“Now it’s time for you to lock all the windows and doors. This is a letter with a mystical story from real life. It is true. This happened many years ago, and the man who killed the dog was never caught. If you delete this letter, then you will suffer the same fate as the girl in the story, years after the dog was killed. Until recently, it was believed that mankind mastered the production and use of electric current only at the end of the 18th century. However, an artifact found by archaeologists in the region of ancient Mesopotamia in 1936 casts doubt on this conclusion. The device consists of a clay pot containing the battery itself: an iron core wrapped in copper, which is believed to have been filled with some kind of acid, after which it began to generate electricity. For many years, archaeologists have been arguing about whether the devices were really related to the generation of electricity. In the end, they assembled the same primitive products - and managed to get an electric current with their help! So, did they really know how to arrange electric lighting in ancient Mesopotamia? Since there are no written sources of that era, this mystery will now probably haunt scientists forever.
